53rd Annual AAU Junior Olympics July 25 Through Aug. 3

Greensboro has the opportunity this year to host the 53rd annual AAU Junior Olympics! This incredible event is expected to draw and estimated 16,000 athletes to Greensboro. This will be held at the Special Events Center at the Greensboro Coliseum and will run from July 25 through Aug. 3. Regular daily ticket cost is at $15 a person, or you may purchase a weekly pass for only $45. The opening ceremony includes a parade of athletes, organized by states, modeled after the Olympic Games’ Parade of Nations. This is an event you simply won’t want to miss!

Water Lantern Festival Aug. 31

The Water Lantern festival was originally intended to take place back in May but was rescheduled due to rain. The rain date has provided us with new opportunity to be a part of the magical evening Aug. 31. This festival will be held at Lake Reidsville with gates opening at 5 p.m. There will be local food trucks, awesome music and plenty of fun to kick the night off before lighting the lanterns at sunset. Each person will have the opportunity to design their own lantern to reflect messages of love, hope and happiness. Honeybee Festival Aug. 17

The Honeybee Festival in Kernersville is held every year at the Fourth of July Park at 702 W. Mountain St. It will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. This event is one day only, so you don’t want to miss out. They will have food; games; crafts; a kids zone with inflatables, pony rides, a carousel and a climbing wall; a parade and more. Parking and admission are free.
